Holiday Schools

“I can’t believe how much I learned.  I directed a movie! In a week! ” Holiday School Participant

FB&TV run popular fun packed holiday schools in the Half Term, Easter and Summer breaks.

The holiday schools offer engaging and exciting drama based activities for young people with learning disabilities between the ages of 11 and 25.

Each holiday school follows a theme ending in a participatory workshop and showing of work to invited family and friends.

Last years holiday schools focused on film-making with participants storyboarding, shooting and acting in their  own mini movie.

Specialist practitioners input into the work and each school is run by a dedicated leader and an assistant.

Alongside the creative work the summer schools touch on many areas of personal and social development including:-

  • Communication – we communicate ideas and emotions creatively through music, movement and language.
  • Working with others – ensemble work is key to all of our activity.
  • Improving own learning and performance – we build self-esteem, self-motivation and confidence.
  • Problem solving - as a team, we value all contributions.
  • Creative thinking skills – we use our imaginations.
  • Evaluation skills – we give honest feedback to each other.
  • Speaking and listening – we take the time to listen and be heard.
  • Body Awareness- we use our bodies and observe other people.
  • Music – we use instruments and our own voices.
  • Physical Development- we develop balance, co-ordination and awareness

Holiday schools take place on a commissioned basis in various locations in Yorkshire.  Please call the office on 01484 48441 to check this years locations, dates and times and to reserve a place.
